The London giants are prepared to sanction the departure of Calum Chambers amid interest from newly-promoted Fulham. The 25-year-old centre-back began last campaign in Unai Emery’s starting line-up and was a regular fixture in the club during the early period of Mikel Arteta’s tenure.
Calum suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury, however, during Mikel Arteta’s first home match at the helm against Blues which put paid to a promising individual season. Arsenal have subsequently handed a new deal to David Luiz and turned Pablo Mari’s loan move from Flamengo into a permanent deal.
William Saliba, meanwhile, has returned from his loan spell at Saint-Etienne and Gunners are also in the running to sign Lille’s defender Gabriel. Chambers was signed by Arsene Wenger from Southampton in the summer of 2015 in a £12m deal and played alongside Mikel Arteta for two campaigns before the current Gunners boss hung up his boots.
England international has proved to be a versatile member of the club but is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements. The English defender spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Craven Cottage, during which he largely featured as a defensive midfielder, and, Scott Parker is keen to bring the footballer back to west London.
Fulham’s promotion back to the PL after a one-campaign absence was confirmed last week following their play-off victory over Brentford at Wembley. Scott is also said to be interested in signing Southampton player Harrison Reed, while Ryan Sessegnon, who is also said to be interesting Ajax, could return on loan from Spurs.
